Located at the northern most end of the island this lighthouse was built around 1915. Its name is derived from the passenger ship -- California -- that sank off the area's coast before the lighthouse was built.
Accessible by car, the lighthouse, whose inside is closed off to the public, stands at the top of a hill and gives you a magnificent view of the inland as well as the two contrasts of the island's shorelines.
The northern side with its rough waters and crashing waves gives way to the southern shoreline, which is tranquil. The area where the lighthouse is located itself is diverse. Many boulders, as if from outer space, are scattered throughout while one area exists of sand dunes and another of rough terrain, which can be explored by a four-wheel drive vehicle.
