The 83m (272 feet) high falls are located in the provincial Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. The falls are 30m higher than Niagara Falls, but far narrower. It is a beautiful sight to see if you have never been.
Above the towering drop of water is a suspension bridge where you can walk over and look straight down at the falls below. You can see the water crashing below you as you stand right above the falls and the mist of the crashing water permeates throughout the air above. From ground below, you can drive up to a point near the bridge and then walk for 5-8 minutes to the bridge, or you can also take a cable car up to this same point.
Although intimidating it is quite safe and offers an ecstatic view of the St Lawrence River and the Ile d'Orleans. The falls are open year round, and local country tour packages include this stop.
