Located in the Renaissance Court in Yorkville, Michelle's Brasserie fits the definition of a brasserie perfectly. Although, the restaurant offers a moderate dining menu, its specialty is certainly its expansive drink menu that covers a minimum 12 pages of reading enjoyment.
Covering drinking categories such as digestives, wine, beer, aperitifs, martinis and spirits there is sure to be something for every avid drinking connoisseur. One drink that caught our eye was the offering of Absinthe, which was served in the traditional Czech style. Unique to the local drinking community, it was well worth the cost to experience the "Green Fairy" ride.
It is also worth noting that our server was very friendly and did his utmost to ensure we enjoyed our experience. He was very knowledgeable in the different drinks available and his recommendations were spot on.
The interior is small and warmly furnished with French flair, while in the summertime a patio area courted away from the main street allows patrons a chance to drink under the stars.
As with most other restaurants in the area, Michelle's is a bit on the expensive side, but with such a selection of foreign drinking gems, this does not come as a surprise. Overall, if you are into trying different drinks in a relaxed atmosphere then Michelle's is definitely worth a visit.
A second location is also now open in The Beaches at 1955 Queen Street East.
