Ideally situated in the city centre, the Novotel Montreal Centre offers the casual or business visitor all the comforts expected from this chain. On the doorsteps of the Bell Centre, within minutes of the nightlife on Crescent Street and a stone throw away from the financial and commercial districts makes this hotel a favourite choice.
From the moment one walks through the automatic glass doors, it is obvious that the hotel prides itself on offering a business like feel, but with a casual atmosphere. The staff in general is helpful and eager to make your stay pleasant. Certain rooms went through a re-construction over the past few years upgrading the bathrooms and adding more modern amenities. Rooms with king beds feel like mini-suites with either a pullout sofa or a general lounging area. Certain rooms even have flat screen televisions installed.
Be careful about the in-room fridges though. As in most case, visitors usually like to empty the fridges so that they can keep their own drinks cool. But, the Novotel has a computer system setup that keeps track of items removed from the fridge, which will automatically be charged to your bill. There is a warning sign on the fridge, but with such tracking technology still not widely used by hotels, it can easily be overseen. In any case, if this happens talking to the front desk will get the charges removed as long as the contents are all replaced.
The site has a small parking garage underneath the hotel that charges around $15 a night, with in and out privileges. If you have a bigger vehicle, be prepared for some tight maneuvering. In fact if you can, try bringing a small vechicle to make your life easier.
The hotel also has revamped its bar and restaurant. With modern decor and lighting the restaurant gives off a warm and charming environment to grab a meal or enjoy drinks with friends.
I have stayed at this hotel often over the past few years. With its great location to many of the key sights of downtown Montreal and comfortable living quarters, it makes this the hotel of choice on each return visit to the city.
