Finding a good schnitzel in town can be tough, but located just north of the city on picturesque Unionville Main Street is the Old Country Inn, which boasts "Fine Cuisine of Vienna". The building itself is over 125 years old and once you step inside you'll know exactly why it is called the Old Country Inn. The interior completely simulates being out in the country with simple wooden decor giving off the feel of a tavern from Austria.

The menu covers most of the traditional meals from Germany and of course Austria. What is impressive for those who enjoy a good schnitzel (like us) is the six different schnitzels found on the menu. From the classic Wiener Schnitzel to a Cordon Bleu style schnitzel to my favourite the Jager Schnitzel.

Each schnitzel (except the Jager, which has its own side offerings) comes with potatoes and vegetables, which more then fills most appetites. Varying from $16-$20 for each schnitzel, after tasting your meal, one will agree it is well worth the price. Try their reduced lunch menu that offers some of these schnitzels for around $10.

Although filled, we found room for dessert and tried the Chocolate Crepe, which was a crepe filled with vanilla ice cream topped with warm chocolate sauce. A great decision as it just topped of a perfect meal.

Not only was the food delightful, but also the entire staff, including the owner, was keen on making sure everything lived up to our expectations. Weeknights seem to be relatively low key, but definitely on weekends it is suggested to make a reservation.
