Don't be deceived by its location in a strip mall on the northern city limits of Toronto, but this Mediterranean/Israeli orientated restaurant serves up great food at a reasonable cost.
Although the decor is more like a diner with its bright lights and big booths, Me Va Me's menu is anything but.
A small bar awaits you as you enter, which may be worth sitting at if you don't have a reservation as line-ups for lunch and dinner are to be expected. Calling ahead for reservations is strongly recommended.
Arrive hungry because portions are large. The menu consists of most common Mediterranean/Israeli standards. For an appetizer, it is suggested to order the dip platter that comes with grilled pita and your choice of various dips including hummus, grilled red peppers in tomato sauce and eggplant for example.
On this given evening we had the filet mignon skewers served with basmati rice and vegetables. Large pieces of meat are delicately skewered and served to near perfection. Even those with the healthiest of appetites will struggle to finish their plate, so thank goodness for doggy bags.
Don't come expecting a marvel, but if you like a well cooked Mediterranean/Israeli meal that will leave you full for a decent price then Me Va Me is definitely worth checking out.
