While walking along Las Vegas Boulevard, it is easy to get distracted by the lights and sounds of the strip. So much so, that one can forget that there is a vast desert surrounding us. But travel 19 miles west and you will find tranquil Red Rock Canyon, an array of red rocks and jagged rock formations located in the midst of the Mojave Desert.
Red Rock Canyon, although fairly close to Las Vegas still feels a world apart from all the glamour of its neighbour. Whether you want to bike, hike or simply view the sights, Red Rock Canyon offers something a little different for those who take an interest in geological formations whose history goes back 600 million years.
Bikers and walkers do not have to pay an entrance fee, but automobiles are charged $5 and motorcycles are charged $2. Check the website for more detailed information.
